Upholstery Fabrics

Most manufacturers offer a standard list of fabrics which they try to keep in stock. Using upholstery fabrics which are not part of a manufacturer's standard offering is called using a COM, which means Customers-Own-Material.

Using COMs can be very satisfying; you transform furniture into something uniquely yours, ideally suited to your preferences.

Getting it right can be a little bit complex and that's where we come in. We won't let you make a yardage mistake if you're ordering a product from us and want to put a COM on it.

It's a simple process. You pick the products and fabrics you want to use and when you get to the part where you choose the fabric, select the COM option. Purchase the product.

There are three things you can do at that point.

1. Leave a note as to which COMs you want in the Notes area of the shopping cart, or,

2. Send us an email or call us to let us know which COMs you're interested in, or,

3. Order the product and don't fill in anything but that you want a COM. We'll contact you as soon as possible to see which ones you're interested in.

Most seating uses COM fabrics and the price for putting the fabric on is already included in the price of the chair. There are exceptions to this rule, but they're noted where applicable, on the chair page.

Finally, using COMs usually adds at least two weeks to any order so please don't use a COM if you're in a hurry.
